Mandatory Singlet Rule for Weigh Ins

Postby cage fighter on Wed Mar 10, 2010 11:16 am

I was just curious why there is a rule in place for wearing a singlet to weigh in with at district and regional? I'm sure there is a reason. The rules we follow are NFHS Rules and it states that All contestants must weigh in wearing no more than a suitable undergarment. Thank you in advance for the clarification.

The singlet rule applies so that girls and boys may weigh-in in the same location.

I guess that makes some since. So I guess in high school the girls and boys weigh in using seperate locker rooms? I also guess that all other youth wrestling tournaments have this same process? Or do the boys and girls weigh in together wearing suitable undergarments at local tournaments? Makes since up until I think of that. I just don't see why some rules are in place or inforced more at the end of teh season and not all year? Same with how refs call stalling calls and cautions. They stick to the rules harder towards the end. It seems to me like it should be tough from the get go. IMO Just curious about the rule still.

In HS, my daughter weighed in the women's locker room and was accompanied by a female faculty member of the host school.

There have to be rules. Just because your car is faster and you are a better driver than I am doesn't mean you can ignore the speed limit.
