We got the packet from Ann C. who runs D2... The seating meeting is going to be at Marceline and she also confirmed there is also no remote weigh-ins this year either. The tournament flyer is also posted on the tournaments page.

it really was nice to have everyone meet in Cameron. It's such a central location for all.

I contacted Mo USA and they said the Board elected to do away with remote weigh-ins.

Sounds like a great road trip, we should be able to do it online and not have to go anywhere, or what about District 8 idea of a conference call. It would be alot easier than traveling all night.

Here is an idea, how about you host district next year then you and everybody else from the west side of our district will not have to drive more than 30 miles! Come on, can we b!@#$ anymore? I know for a fact that Marceline did not want to host districts, but Brookfield who were could not so Marceline stepped up to the plate. Thank you Marceline! Week after week Kirksville, Brookfield and Marceline drive 90 to 100 miles oneway just to get to our tournaments. Can we not put our selfs out just one time? Something else to think about, in past years Marceline has had the seeding meeting in Cameron which was very nice for most of us and something that I'm sure has been taken for granted. Marceline drives an hour there, has the seeding meeting then drives an hour home and probably starts bracketing which takes three hours if not more. How long have you been in bed since leaving the seeding meeting? Do you know how much work it takes to put on a district tournament? Alot!!! I know you have to go to district if you want to get to state, but times are tight and if you want others to come to our tournaments then you cant b!@#$ about going to thiers. What I'm saying is if they can take the time why should'nt you? Other wise step up to the plate, I'm sure all the clubs from the east side of the district will be at your door next year with a smile on thier face ready to wrestle.

Just a point for clarification purposes. District 8 had a conference call for a briefing of tournament procedures, information, and other related items. The actual seeding meeting is being held at Ste. Genevieve High School with no remote weigh-ins. Ste. Gen isn't exactly convenient for any of the district 8 teams, especially those from St. Charles but if you go through all of the trouble and effort it takes to host a district tournament then the least everyone else can do is make the trip.

Folks may not know this but as the head of a club that hosted two district tournaments I can tell you that it is the most difficult tournament you will ever run. The profit really isn't worth the amount of work but it is great exposure for the host club. If you have ever attended the general membership meeting in Columbia you would understand what I'm talking about. Everyone fights over the regional tournament because it is the easiest and most profitable. However, when the call for a club to host districts comes up, everyone just kind of stares at each other until we guilt another club into doing it. That's a bit tongue in cheek but you understand what I'm saying.
